Hi. Welcome to my comics page. I used to draw a lot of comics before I got to college. Now I don't really. Most of these comics are horrifyingly, embarrassingly old. I've considered taking them down, but I haven't yet. Please just keep in mind that most of this is either old or--like the snippet comics-- not really representative of my abilities.

Currently Updating Not Abandoned, At Least

Vade Mecum; 2002-present, with a bigass hiatus. Once called "Whisperstone", then "Icon Destroyer", now "Vade Mecum". Check it out, it's updated every other day. See below for some of the really awful older stuff.

See also: snippet comics.
comics with their own pages

Boredom Tastes Like Chocolate; was a daily comic. Now finished. 2000-2001? Not really sure, but I know part of it was during my sophomore year of high school...uhhh.

Absolution; the first thing I've ever finished. Also, really trite and crappy. Don't pay attention to anything that I have typed here that isn't in the comic itself, a lot of the links are broken and it's littered with me making horrible emoticons and being wishy washy. What IS impressive about this is that it was drawn in the space of a month (January 2000.)

Stone Fighters; I have no idea when I did this but I'm pretty sure it was before I was in high school. Pretty good drawings though. Writing by Julie Bihn, art by me. Mirrored at Julie's site. Hasn't been touched in a while. There's a REALLY old version of it lurking down in the WTF files.

The Merchant and the Sun Prince: 2004-2005. Done on index cards. Kinda random.

snippet comics

I call these snippet comics, but they're really kind of like diary comics, except they're mostly just of funny things that people say to me.
The snippet comics QUICKLY spiralled out of control. I should have been dating them from the beginning, but I wasn't. I collected the first year of snippets into a book (link. NB: Please don't try to order one of these without asking me about it first. As of this writing it's been about a year since I was selling them.) You can read the first 175 snippets in a disorderly fashion here. All the snippets after that are--theoretically-- dated and here.
The list below are all the snippets that were in existance the last time I updated this page -- clearly not recently. It is not an exhaustive list.

Snippets: Abortion Debate, class canceled, crest man, punishment, Plastic wrap 01, Plastic wrap 02, Plastic wrap 03, eternal spring break, Homeys, sincere heart, Ole Hallelujah, cooler as a freshman, nonstick womb, same hairstyle, order 69, homey bunny, I hate everything.

some semblance of serial

These are comics that were either supposed to be longer and I never finished, or I just did a bunch of times.

Reverence: I don't even know. You can kind of tell by my comics when I was sick though, can't you? I think this was 97-98, probably no earlier than that. Definitely no later than 98. This was one of the earliest things I put on the internet, aside from Lunarium and maybe a couple other failed projects.page 01, page 02, page 03, page 04, page 05.

Random story attempts circa 1998: I don't really know what any of this is. They're three different but related comics. x 01, x 02,x 03, x 04, x 05. x b 01, x b 02, x b 03, x b 04. y 01, y 02, y 03,y 04, y 05, y 06, y 07. z 01, z 02, z 03, z 04, z 05, z 06.

Ash (untitled): Circa April 1999,t his was done for the MOM. The themes were: 1. Something Came Down From The Sky 2.Crossing The Line. I don't think I ever continued it like I said I would. Strangely, I have NO recollection of ever having drawn this. I DO remember drawing The Pointlessness of Cooking, for another month, though. page 01, page 02, page 03, page 04, page 05, page 06, page 07, page 08, page 09, page 10, page 11, page 12, page 13, page 14.

Adrian (untitled): What can I say? My sister and I collaborated on this, along with another comic about grisly murders (I can't find that one though, it may be forever gone.) We alternated panels. It didn't really get anywhere and is pretty embarrassing. I think this was early 1999. page 01, page 02 missing, page 03, page 04, page 05 page 06

Whisperstone: Ahhh, the story. I have drawn this probably in seven different versions. This is now Vade Mecum. First version, drawn in the last few hours of 1999, the first version really isn't remarkable from any of the previous crap, and yet somehow it's stuck with me for six years. page 01, page 02, page 03, page 04, page 05, page 06, page 07, page 08, page 09, page 10. I'm not sure what's up with the numbering, but these next pages come after the first ten. page 01, page 02. Here are some bonus random cover/whatever the hell illustrations: Crap, Yes...Admon's name was Kor, oh dear GOD, Episode 2 cover thing, Cover...thing, hideous updated picture of Admon I did a few months later, and then enver updated again, ham-fisted symbolism, split image. RELATED: see the random one-offs section for random Vade things!

Alice: Ahh, Alice, a character I am still fond of. I actually have more pages of this, but the dialogue is hand-written, and I wrote it on purpose to be illegible so I have no idea what's supposed to be going on. This was either late 2000 or early 2001. page 01, page 02, page 03,page 04, page 05,page 01,

Claudia: I have no idea when this was. My best guess is late 2000. This was actually a spinoff from something else that I don't have to show you. Pretty unremarkable, though it shows the somewhat darker, more sinister tangent I was going with at the time (see: Alice, BTLC.) page 01, page 02, page 03, page 04,

Hand of God: supposed to be a short story. 2001? 2002? I just know it's after Claudia and before Fury. page 01, page 02, page 03, page 04,

Londhalde: Sometime in 2002. Pencils for Vindeep and Saldrigan's epic romance uh, adventure. Crappy scans. page 01, page 02, page 03, page 04, page 05, page 06, page 07, page 08, page 09,

Fury: late 2003. This is trite as hell, but compared to some of the other stuff here, not too horrid. page 00, page 01, page 03, page 03, page 04, page 05, page 06, page 07, page 08, page 09, page 10, page 11, page 12, page 13, page 14, page 15, page 16, page 17, page 18. Also, a shorter, random thing: page 01, page 02, page 03, page 04.

In Dreams: Sort of the Steve story, sort of not. I come back to this off and on. 2004? I could check, but will I? page 01, page 02, page 03, page 04, page 07,. Why I skipped to 7 is anyone's guess. Related: 2003. Steve House. French 01, French 02,

Things I only have a couple pages of, but theoretically, are longer

Eyes Stronger: Between 2000 and 2002, though I think it's earlier in that scale than later. I actually had several pages of this drawn but this seems to be the only one that's scanned. Page 01.

Some Achtaver-universe bullshit: 2003-2004. Not really sure. Two unrelated pages. 01 02.

random one-shots

Just as a warning, these aren't in order by date. These are all post 2000, since I didn't keep a sketch blog before then, and have lost most stuff from before then.

X-Battle: 2000-2002. Practicing action sequences. page 01, page 02, page 03, page 04, page 05, page 06, page 07, page 08.

The Cube: From the shitty art, I'm guessing 2001. This is from that stupid new agey personality cube test thing ass. cube 0, cube 1.

Digital Comics Experiment: Sometime after the long pages of BTLC, but before BTLC officially ended. Before I read Scott McCloud, I was doing shit like this. It doesn't really hold up too well on different computers. but I was interested in experimenting with the internet as a medium for delivering comics in a quasi-immersive kind of way. Okay, that's enough BULLSHIT for something I did when I was 15. Two comics are in this folder, one Full page experiment and one fixed size experiment. ALso in this folder, its lack of being experimental, is...

The Token Clone Comic: I had a couple of these (one of which is the second experimental comic) but this is the only one that seems to be scanned. 2001-2002, although it could be earlier. page 01, page 02, page 03, page 04, page 05, page 06.

Aubade: Late 2004. Shockingly self-contained. Attempting to be pretentious in my earlier mode (see: alice, btlc) but failing because I am no longer 15 and wanky. 2004. page 01, page 02, page 03, page 04.

Keyware Lime: EARLY. I want to say 1997 but it could be 98. This was made in attempt to be blatantly magical girl oriented. Actually I still like some of the ideas from this... but that doesn't mean it's any good. key 001, key 002

Tu M'as Bris? le coeur: early 2005. Experimental-ish. The first two pages suck, and none of the pages reeeeally go together that much. page 01, page 02, page 03, page 04.

Random Vade Mecum related stuff: 2002-present. This stuff is all totally random. Description of the older version, Xaffythe meets Faedrian and Salameth. Elua 01, Elua 02, Elua 03, Elua 04, Elua 05, Elua 06, Elua 07, Elua 08. Elua 01. marker 01, marker 02, marker 03, marker 04, marker 05, marker 06. Random scene. Scrabble poem.

Art: This started as one page and then I added a second. The third is just added on for no reason. page 1, page 2, page 3. Noodles, not comics. I don't know what this says.

Random One Pagers: Complete: random high school overheard and joke. true love. being deep even though I'm in 8th grade. stupid joke. Unfunny That Weekly guest strip.

Random One (and two) Pagers: incomplete: angst 1, angst 2. blurb 1,blurb 2. one panel, no joke. wordless. wordless II. curtain pull. Tiri'n Alphabet. Prince Romaige.Princess Esmoa (no relation to Prince Romaige.).I'm not sure if this counts as a comic.

the wtf files

For your perusal. The offerings range from horrible to just plain bizarre.
TSB: Originally had a longer title I can't remember. 96-97. Done with a friend of mine. This is but a small portion of the lunacy. page 01, page 02, page 03, page 04, page 05, page 06.

Stone Fighters: The first version and quite possibly the single oldest and worst (through no fault of Julie's) piece of comics on this website. 1996. page 01, page 02, page 03, page 04, page 05, page 07, page 08, page 09.

Pretty Dancer Malurina: The jewel in the crown of the WTF section, I probably did this sometime in 98 or 99. Somewhat of an inside joke/parody, this involves several people I used to talk to. The title character is Brian O'Malley of Scott Pilgrim fame. There were actually about 30 pages but, again, they're probably lost. Intended to be cheesy, it crosses the line into downright embarrassing. Cover, page 01, page 02, page 03, page 04, page 05, page 06, page 07, page 08, page 09, page 10, page 11. Random bonus illustration.
